Immerse yourselves in all things Leica this April
The Leica Store Manchester is pleased to be supporting The Leica Society’s Exhibition Weekend and we would love to see you there.
Come and join us and have the chance to listen to and meet some of the best Leica experts in the world. Listen to some inspiring photographers and spend the weekend with people who are passionate about Leica and photography as much as you are. The Exhibition Weekend takes place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th April at The Palace Hotel in Buxton.
On the Saturday you will have the chance to listen to two inspiring photographers; Leica Ambassador, Sarah Lee (@sarahmlee47 / www.sarahmlee.com), and documentary photographer, Homer Sykes (@homer.sykes / www.homerskyes.photoshelter.com).
On Sunday you get to the very special chance to listen to a talk by Jim Lager, arguably the world’s leading expert on all things Leica. Having spent all his adult life around Leica cameras, as a past President of Leica Historical Society of America, and a career at Leitz in New York, coupled with his passion for the brand, you would be hard pressed to find anyone with more knowledge. His book, Leica - An Illustrated History, which every Leica fan should own, was a project born of this passion – he mortgaged his house to fund the production of these books and is an unparalleled study of Leica cameras, lenses and accessories, each one with its own dedicated volume. He’s travelling from America so you won’t get many opportunities to listen to such a legend.
Also in attendance will be Lars Netopil, The Historical Archive Director of the The Leica Society since 1993 and owner of Lars Netopil Classic Cameras Wetzlar (Leica Store Wetzlar Old-town) since 1996. He also consults for Leica Museums and various auction houses. He bought his first Leica when he was 14 years old and his fascination with them has been with him ever since. He won’t be speaking on stage but will be around to meet attendees and chat about his extensive knowledge of, and passion for, the brand.

Leica Store Manchester will be around all weekend to share information and chat to you about any questions you may have about your equipment. We will have a display of the M11, Q2 and SL System should you be thinking about a new purchase; feel free to come and feel the products in your hand and chat to us about your requirements.
And don’t forget we deal with lots of vintage and pre-loved Leica. If you are looking for a vintage Leica camera then come and have a chat with us or take a look at what’s available in our store currently (link to website). And, if you have any Leica equipment that you are looking at selling or trading in then feel free to bring it along to the weekend and we have a look at it for you.
If you are not a member of The Leica Society, you are still welcome to join us at the weekend - just mention that you’re a guest of The Leica Store Manchester. If you want to join whilst you are there we are sure they would be happy to have you as part of their Society.
Leica Store Manchester will also be donating a prize to the Society Raffle.
For those that would like to come to the weekend to catch up with David he will only be there on the Sunday. He sends his sincere apologies for not being there on the Saturday but his son Ben is getting married, it was a tough decision but family won in the end.
Join us for just one of the days or make a weekend of it and book a stay in Buxton for the night. If you want to make a weekend of it we will share some information on places to see in Buxton over the next weeks.
